I admit that I chose this book, Life's Biggest Questions: What the Bible Says about the Things that Matter Most, because I saw a review on the back cover from Heather Campbell, the vice president of the atheist coalition of San Diego. I thought that any book endorsed, even superficially, by an atheist was probably worth a look. The author, Erik Thoennes was later on Stand To Reason, one of my favorite radio programs talking about this book.
In this short volume (just 176 pages), Thoennes addresses some of the basic questions of the Christian faith. Does God exist? What is God like? Who is Jesus Christ? How will it all end? None of the questions are addressed in detail, usually a few pages, but there is a lot packed into those pages. He grounds his arguments both logically and scripturally, which is a notable strength of the book. He also provides the readers with a list of resources for further study for each question. For example, following the question "does God exist?" he suggests several powerhouse texts like Reasonable Faith by William Lane Craig, The Reason for God by Tim Keller, and The Consequences of Ideas by RC Sproul.
This is a very useful for book for a young Christian or someone wanting to get a basic grounding in the issues of the faith or even for a non-believer. If you have studied these issues in much detail, it will probably prove elementary, but the book fits its niche well. 4 stars.
